Enrichment Activities at Pound Park
Interactive Music Making
We have a trained Interactive Music teacher who runs sessions on a weekly basis to engage children and extend their learning through music. The sessions support children’s understanding with particular focus on listening and attention. Children develop their music skills and abilities to play instruments all through having lots of fun.
Forest School
Stated as a ‘Forest School Centre of Excellence’ by Ofsted in 2015, Pound Park delivers an integrated outdoor education throughout daily provision. We have three forest school leaders who work with parent volunteers to support children’s learning in the outdoors. Not only do we have a small woodland space on site we also have a large space within Gilberts Pit. Children learn new skills through wildlife hunts, plant and tree identification as well as whittling, sawing and lighting camp fires to cook on. By engaging and training children in risky activities in the outdoors, children develop sophisticated skills in being able to manage safety and learn skills they may not pick up anywhere else. Forest school has school a significant positive impact on children’s language, their ability to make relationships and understand the world around them.
Yoga
Yoga develops body and mind.
At Pound Park and Cardwell we guide the children through a series of moves and poses in a healthy, non-competitive environment. Providing yoga lessons at Pound Park, we are offer a alternative way to handle challenges in the classroom. To engage children we teach Yoga through fun and play- we use books, props and sensory experiences.
